Grant

The Interdistrict Music Composition program has been funded by an Interdistrict Cooperative Grant from the Connecticut Department of Education for the past five years. Through this program, students from diverse school districts and backgrounds have worked together; learning compositional techniques that have allow them to create their own musical compositions. This is accomplished through school based sessions, combined sessions with special guest artists, this website and a special composition festival that will feature performances of students compositions.

This yeart the program will be expanded to include additional middle and high school students in core school districts. These districts include schools in the Hartford area (Bloomfield, East Hartford, Glastonbury, Rocky Hills Simsbury) and the southwestern part of the state (Bridgeport, Darien, Greenwich, South Norwalk). Students from other school districts are also able to participate through a cooperative program with the Hartt School at the University of Hartford and this website.

The Connecticut Music Educators Association is a partner in this project. They are joined by the Connecticut Songwriters Association and the Connecticut Compooser Association. The nationally recognzed Vermont MIDI Project (VTMIDI.org) has also provided critial support and encouragement for this program.
