Connecticut Song Writers
WHO ARE THEY....
WHAT DO THEY DO
CSA is an educational non-profit organization dedicated to improving the art and craft of original music, combining arts, education and community outreach since 1979.
Almost 2,000 songwriters, musicians and vocalists from 15 states and 5 countries have joined CSA since it was founded in 1979.
They have grown to become one of the oldest, most active, and best known songwriters associations in the country. CSA sponsors monthly programs, with nationally known guest speakers, song critique sessions, and interactive workshops.
They rotate meeting locations around the State, including: Glastonbury, Danbury, Bridgeport, Mystic, etc. The Association produces songwriter showcases, benefit concerts, and a series of compilation recordings.
Their newsletter,
Connecticut Songsmith, has been published monthly by
Bill Pere since 1980.
As well as songwriters, members consist of lyricists, composers, vocalists, producers, musicians, publishers, & recording artists. They actively encourage and facilitate collaboration.
CSA has been featured in the internationally distributed Songwriters Market Book, as well as in media articles and magazines throughout the State. Sheila Davis' classic book "Successful Lyric Writing", includes a case study of CSA as a highly successful regional organization. In partnership with community outreach organizations like LUNCH, they have helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for fighting poverty and for providing essential human services
